Interdimensional milking part 35 – Change
After breakfast, Max and Brill returned to Max’s room. The door disintegrated and Sam was there facing away from the door. He turned and saw Max enter the room, and hurriedly stuffed something into a bag.
“Oh hey, you’re back,” Max said cooly.
“Uh, yeah, just grabbing something. I’m going to Central straight after classes.”
“Yeah, I can see that. What you doing in Central?” Max asked, with no warmth in his voice.
“Oh nothing. I just have some stuff to get sorted.”
“Right. Sam, we’ve got unfinished business. I thought you were level. I thought we were friends, but I can’t share a room with someone I don’t trust.”
His tone was quiet and measured.
“Sam, it was so obvious you were fabbing the other day about Troye’s pad. Come on, what’s the real lore?”
Sam stopped what he was doing and took a visible deep breath, then he turned fully to face Max and Brill.
“There IS more to it. A lot more. And I don’t wanna put space between us Max. We ARE friends but there’s things I just can’t tell you. Not now. Maybe one day.”
Max looked Sam in the eyes, holding the gaze for an uncomfortably long time.
“Is that your final word on the matter?”
“Can’t you just trust me Max? What have I ever done to make you mistrust me before?”
“Nothing, but this is not a little thing Sam. You’ve got the pad that was jacked from our friend, and you’re clearly lying about how you or Shaun got it. If you want me to trust you, you have to give me more.”
“You want more? I’ll tell you this much, Shaun risked his own safety to get it back. He’s not the person you think he is. Not totally. Yeah, he’s a boned up tarabella, and he’s a bit dark, but there’s things about him you have NO idea about.”
“Not totally? He set me up to get vraped, and he somehow ended up with Troye’s jacked pad. That’s more than a bit dark.”
Sam shook his head sadly.
“I get it Max, I really do, but I can’t give you more. There’s much bigger things at stake.”
“Bees!” Max spat. “You want me to trust you, but you’re telling me that there’s stuff going on where you won’t trust ME? Fair enough. I’m gonna speak to admin about getting a new roommate.”
Sam shook his head again.
“I’m really sorry to hear that Max. You’ve been a great roommate. I’m really gonna miss you.”
“Yeah, well you know how to fix it don’t you?”
“If you only knew the truth,” Sam said, “you’d feel a lot different.”
That night, Max moved into a new room.
